It's most disturbing because spec fiction writers often claim that they're the ones pushing limits and seeking the "What if?" Most of us don't, however. You can see why we do it. You can see the narratives of fear and of safety and the narratives of wishfulness very clearly. It worries me when these predominate, as they do now. Your analysis of zombie narratives worries me especially, for I live in a country that's scared of refugees and yes, your analysis applies.
