And we're off...

Well, we'll be off fairly soon. Skirts and other important items have been packed, my hair is newly cut and coloured, the cats are highly suspicious, and my fingernails are an appealing (to me) shade of blue. We fly out tomorrow morning, and get into Chicago at about 6.30 pm local time. I will probably be online on and off during Worldcon, but not necessarily regularly.
Have fun, whatever you're doing, and I hope to see some of you soon in Chicago.

Skirt of the day: teal panelled.

Have a good trip and see you there!

Also, thanks for the post on Blake's 7. I think I always knew what you aid, but I hadn't joined the dots before. And I realise I am attempting to do some similar things with female characters, however poorly, in my own writing. Now you've joined the dots, maybe it will be easier to do it better.

Jenna is one of the best done female competent characters out there. Wardrobe tried to play up to her prettiness, but the script and Sally Knyvette's performance undermined that very nicely -- it became clear that however Jenna dresses, the only person she's aiming to please by it is herself.

And the fact that the female characters were their own bosses just made them more interesting.

In related news, I was watching an old Avengers episode only to find Jacqueline Pierce playing a small part. Clearly it is my Blake's 7 night!

BTW ScyFy is allegedly planning a reboot. They'll probably cock it up :-(
