And she's back
We had a lovely time skiing -- the weather was variable and I took one day off as I could not see to ski -- but the hotel was a delight and a joy, and the days I did ski were great fun.
And we came back and the cats deigned to notice us and the boiler was leaking... And the marquis had a 36 hour turnaround before being sent off to Detroit and Concord and Boston and LA for work for nearly two whole weeks. I am not whelmed by this latter, not one bit. He set off at 7 a.m. this morning, and I waited in for the boiler man, who was prompt and efficient and yay, it works again. But I failed to write, due to being too tired to think.
However, in the doubleplusgood column, mid-afternoon
mkillingworth arrived for a few days, which is wonderful. We don't see enough of her these days and she is lovely company.
How are you all? What have I missed?

We'll get back from Cornwall in April just in time for sir to turn round and head for Denmark!
Sounds like you had a good time! :o)

We had a lovely time, however.

What did you miss?
Well, we had some snow. Not very much, mind.

We went skiing in a hard storm yesterday, lovely powder. Took DH down his first real black, essentially a short steep pitch (probably a cliff when the snow is off of it, I'm afraid to go look this summer).
But now this afternoon my instep hurts back by my heel and there's a swollen spot, possible bruising. It happened after skiing but I sure don't know what I did!

We were in Austria, in Lech and Zurs, which is one of the higher Austrian resorts with an excellent reputation for off-piste, which the marquis loves. I like it, too, but it's not as good at my level -- high intermediate -- because the connectivity is a bit limited.
Well done to your DH on his black run. I can handle most blacks now, if they aren't too bumped up (I do not ski moguls well) but I would not try a double black. My highest achievement so far in that line is the very steep black called Picolin at Kronplatz in Austria. (2 kilometres long with a steepness of 74% -- film of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4uovQIseYw). I'm still somewhat stunned I did it without falling or any real trouble -- my memory is of a grim determination to get down it and a 'omg this is steep' eep going in the back of my head.)
