Speechless in Cambridge

But not word-less...

[livejournal.com profile] deborahjross, who is a brilliant writer and a wonderful person who I admire hugely, just made me tear up by posting this. I can't begin to express how touched and honoured I am. And startled and embarrassed and all sorts of things. I look forward to her next post on this anthology, because it is fine and I am, in my own opinion, the weakest link therein.

And I realise I did a Bad Meme. It was all about words, really: there was no intention to check. That came with the phrasing. But I apologise anyway. Will do better in future.

Ooh, that's so sweet! (and that's a fabulous excerpt, too)

Deborah is amazing, she really is.
And thank you.

That was a lovely post. Oh, and Congrats on the award. I must have missed your post about it :).

thank you. (It was back in 2010.)

What lovely things she says about you. All well-deserved, of course.

I ordered the anthology for my Nook, after I saw you and Sherwood both post about it, and I can't wait to read your story. The excerpt was astounding.

Thank you!
The stories in it are just amazing. I'm very honoured to be in it.

Well deserved - after all, you were charming and articulate when you were 14 (and probably never realised it, the same way I never realised anybody saw me as glamorous - !!)

You are very kind. I recall myself as very awkward!

That's a very tempting taste of story. And I love the idea of commissioning the story and feeling you've helped to inspire it, and then having it give you the word for the anthology title - a pleasingly virtuous circle.

As for the meme, I saw it and ignored it - no harm done in this quarter.

I was so chuffed when she told me my story had inspired the title.

Deborah's words were sooo, so true!

You are very, very kind.

That excerpt is glorious and has just bumped the anthology several rungs up my to-read list.

I was sucked in by the same meme, for exactly the same reason.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/la_marquise_de_/ 2012-02-02 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
The other stories in it are fabulous.

How marvelous, both the excerpt and the explanation of how much she loved your work. I can't wait to read the anthology and your story.

I didn't think the meme was out of line. I was cross that people gave you grief about it.

Oh, stuff will happen on the internets. I cope. But thank you.

She speaks truth :)

Congrats on the well-deserved recognition. Though I couldn't help laughing at the similarities, as someone who also had loved your first book and and thought "I wonder if she'd like to write a short story..."
