Alone again

The marquis went into work yesterday to be told he was being sent to Milford Ohio with less than 24 hours notice. This is only marginally better than the time we got back from Hong Kong to discover he was being sent to California the next day. Ho hum. He gets back on Saturday. Neither of us are at all impressed. This was scheduled to be our easy, no travel weekend. He set off at 7 a.m. I have rewrites to do and so on, but all the same, I'd rather he was home. Mutter, mutter, grouse, mutter...

It is indeed. I never like it when he has to go away, but the short notice is particularly annoying. He has had to rearrange all sorts of stuff, too, and thus is a lot more stressed than necessary.

I have a friend, JJ, who used to get sent off all over the world at the drop of a hat to problem solve space rocket/aeronautical problems. His two rules for travelling were:
1) Never eat meat on a plane (vastly reduces your risk of being unable to problem solve due to food poisoning)
2) Never travel with more luggage than you can take in a carry on (vastly increases your chances of having clean clothes to wear while you problem solve).
