We're back

We're back, after a lovely relaxing week. Every time I visit, I fall a bit more in love with Sweden. Aredalen is stunningly beautiful, the skiing was good and everyone was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. If there is a more civilised country anywhere, I haven't found it yet.

Well, the Swedes do have their problems too, particularly with the immigrant populations in the big cities who, as here, haven't been particularly welcomed.

But you are certainly welcome home!

I'm glad you had a good time. And you will be going back - to Stockholm, in June, Just before Jaani Päev. I hope you're planning to spend an extra 2-3 days to see in the solstice at a proper Nordic bonfire. They are wonderful.

While you were away, I have been a busy lady. I have paid my membership and bought my tickets, so 'IT'S OFFICIAL!' I will be attending Eurocon.

I think that the Nordic countries, in general, and that includes Finland and Estonia as well as Sweden, while by no means perfect, are working very hard to create a climate of life that is humane and civilized.

One day I will get to Finland.
We're talking about turning the con into a holiday and travelling on from Stockholm into Norway, as visiting Oslo is another of my long-term ambitions.

Mine as well, but I will have to leave Norway for a different trip. I'm glad you enjoyed your ski trip.

It's a perfect time to be there. That far north the sun won't be setting. I have a friend who was in Bergen last year. Her photos are stunning. The people are nice too, very jolly. They like to sing when they're drinking.

That does sound good.

Yay! Welcome home. With only the right kind of falling, too: unbroken Karis are best.

I tend to agree with you.

Hello! (waves retrospectively). Was the food yummy?

There were some nice restaurants on the slopes and the hotel food was perfectly okay. The best thing, though, was lingonberry juice, which is delicious. A bit like cranberry, but fruitier.
