Snow, snow, snow

Today, we have snow. Yay. I like snow -- yes, even when I have to drive in it or walk somewhere awkward. Yes, I'm odd.
We also have a new cat flap, which only admits cats whose microchips it has learnt. It knows our three, but not Little Black Monster, and so far today he has not got in. This is good and we approve.
The cat flap itself, however, is productive of some feline consternation. You see, it clicks. This is unexpected. Ish isn't too bothered. It clicked, but it let him in anyway, it didn't eat him and it hasn't got anything he wants. So he can deal.
Moon and Horus are less sure. They have both used it to go out, but in is more challenging. It makes a click! Did I know it makes a click! Moon, who is a cautious sort, patted it with her front paws, so that it opened a bit, but wouldn't come too close (thus convincing it that the cat was not entering, leading to another click). She eventually deigned to use it when we held the flap for her.
Horus... It clicks! It makes a click! By his nose! Much shouting and bafflement, and again we had to hold the flap. Hopefully they'll learn.
Some writing done (fx: virtue). Gym visited. Shoulders are so-so.

Skirt of the day: denim.

I like snow too. :) Unfortunately, I hate cold so am always somewhat confused on snowy days, but in a happy way.

I'm sure the cat flap will be great. I bet they'll adjust to it pretty fast if you put them on the outside and a couple of bowls of gushy fudz on the inside. Humbug likes to pretend he can't use the cat flap because he likes the door better, but he forgets all about that when fudz are at stake.

Snow is excellent stuff! You are not odd! I know it makes getting around a little more difficult, but it's so pretty.

I miss snow. We get it a couple of times a decade. No one knows how to drive in it, but fortunately it's rarely deep enough to cause a problem. Snow on redwoods is amazing.

I can imagine. Snow if lovely on any trees, but on those redwoods... Wow.

No snow here yet.

Oh dear! I'm glad to hear that the microchip cat flap works well and I'm sure that Mooncat and Horus will, eventually, realise it is not going to bite them!

I love real proper snow. Last winter we had a constant level of more than a meter. It's much easier to walk on than a little bit which thaws and freezes and get icy becoming treacherous. I walked 3 - 4 kilometres almost every day, so I am hoping we get similar conditions this year.

I live about 300 meters from the start of a network of ski-trails and there have been rumours of lights being installed. I may have to buy a pair of skis - it will be the first time in my life I have owned my own.

We seldom get proper snow here, sadly. I am envious.

yay, snow! i'm envious. i miss snow. of course, in austin an instance of snow causes panic attacks and accidents galore while massive numbers of four-wheel SUV drivers discover that they aren't invincible and are, in fact, ruled by the laws of physics like the rest of us. [cough]

hope your kitties get used to the cat door. cat doors are wonderful inventions. wish we had one. [runs off to open the door AGAIN for poor put-upon cat on the wrong side]
