In other news, Argentina has given same sex couples the same legal rights as heterosexual couples, which is very cheering.
And the Iranian government has arrested the wife and brother-in-law of Mohammed Mostafaei, the human rights' lawyer defending Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, the woman facing death for alleged adultery. There's also an arrest warrant out for Mostafaei over his human rights activities and involvement with Ashtiani. Which isn't cheering at all.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that he's that old. If he's 53, how old must Sammo and Jackie be?

Knockabout, incidentally, is the only film that I actually own on VCD, as I wasn't patient enough to wait for a DVD version back in the mid '90s.

I know. It doesn't seem possible, does it? Jackie is 56, Sammo is 58. Yuen Wah, who is still astonishingly flexible, is 60.

I sympathise about the vcd. I have stuff on all sorts of formats, including some truly horrible ex-rental tapes, because I am very completist about my YB films. I still only have License to Steal on VHS< because it is still not out on dvd, as far as I can find. The hardest to track down back in the day was These Merry Souls, which took me a lot of time, effort and pidgin Cantonese, but is now out on DVD. The ones I still haven't found are The Dragon, the Odds and Bakayaro 4. The former no-one seems to have in any format; there are clips of the latter on YouTube, so it's out there somewhere...
