Say what?

A male commentator on Woman's Hour has just come out with a statement to the effect that the pressure on men nowadays to get fit and looks nicer -- use moisturiser etc -- is imposed by women.
Nothing to do with marketing and the saturation of the market for imposing beauty standards on women, oh no. Nothing to do with big business looking for new outlets and new sources of profit, oh no.
Just Teh Women.
I am gobsmacked. And furious. And upset.

I tend to think that the companies like Lush, who are aiming at making you feel more relaxed as a tactic, are a great improvement on the vast majority, who work via the tried-and-tested method of trying to make women feel inadequate. All of them want to make money, of course, but Lush aren't selling us out in the same way -- and they have all the green stuff, too and they treat their staff as people.
