WInter Olympics

Note to self: it is not advisable to keep staying up till the small hours to watch the Winter Olympics.... But, on the other hand, the moguls events were riveting. (In another life....) Many congratulations to Alexandre Bilodeau and all my Canadian friends on that first gold medal. Two rocking runs.

The moguls were really good! And exciting right up to the end. I felt sorry for the Japanese competitor, but I'm not sure why ... :-)

So did I. He had terrific form but the judges seemed not to reward it.

The evening shows here haven't been bad in terms of extraneous stuff -- mostly one run after the next (too many commercials, but I expect that). Yes, the moguls has been thrilling. Did you see the Nordic Combined? the race to the finish? It was amazing, and so exciting I actually stood up right before the end.

We missed that, sadly -- I suspect you also have had lots of time zone issues, but we find a lot is on just too late for us (or the BBC shows it late for some reason).

Time zones aren't such a problem for us as we are just two hours later, so they use tape delay on all the shows - basically we see what ran live on the West Coast on a two hour tape delay. That's standard for here.

Also the snowboarding is huge fun - I would never have thought it! (And no, it doesn't make me want to do it.)

The snowboard cross was immensely exciting -- though they are all insane.
