la_marquise: (Living With Ghosts)

A good imagination gone bad?

Nearly 800 words dictated to dragon today (and the mishearings are growing fewer, and, alas, less silly).
There is still mud.
Tentacular, flesh-chewing, blood-sucking mud.
I am writing pulp. I'm doomed.

No, no, no. Turn that around. I am writing pulp. I'm saved!

Hooray for pulp!

Well, one reason why I never pursued a degree in so-called literature is that I would so much rather read about tentacles and evil mud than the existential angst of adulterous middle-aged people who, when they finally get some sex, it's always bad.

And then everyone dies. Or someone dies, anyway.

Now that bit I can do! Killing characters is easy... (On the other hand, killing an animal in the story... Days of angst.)

What everyone said. And also, this is what's supposed to happen. Feeling oneself doomed from time to time is often the best protection against unbridled arrogance. Every-word-I-write-is-perfect hubris, and we know where that leads.

Thank you.
I am so tired of fighting this book. Now, with the mud, suddenly it loves me again, and that is wonderful, in a slightly worrying way.

Pulp is awesome in the right hands. Could be yours!

What they all said... plus, it can't be pulp since it is mud not papier mache, so it has to be moosh... or goosh...
Have you read this?

Goosh means gooshy food, which is their name for wet cat food... I love this cartoon. :)

So you write food for kittehs... and I know all us kittehs here LOVE your writing to bits... :D

I love mooshy gooshiness! Thank you!
And the web comic is lovely.

Having a dragon for a secretary suits a pulp writer.

I personally write Lurid Adventure Fiction, or LAF. Maybe we should start a literary movement of LAFfers . . .

The Spanish for octopus is "pulpo"...
