Once more with feline

Another 1000 plus words on Grass King written: tick, vg.
Next Penguin blog written and sent (the piece running today -- which I wrote yesterday -- is about the differences I find between writing fiction and non-fiction. Tomorrow's -- written today -- is on my pilgrimage to Dumas' tomb).
Huge backlog of Vector stuff attended to: tick, with star.
Exercise performed.
And a very wet Ish has just come in to drip all over me and complain about the weather.
How are you all this evening?

upbeat!

I have announced my intention to leave the girls to run the shop by themselves for a month after Easter so I can get my workshop back to some semblance of - erm - workshopness. I an determined not to give up my woodwork - I enjoy it, and once the turnover goes above a certain limit, it is better for me to make things to sell rather than sit in the shop moping.

As a direct result of that announcement, I suddenly find myself launched at some work i have been putting off - viz the makiing and/or repairing of various stock or commission bits.

Have also sent in my first Latin assignment, and prepared my second Roman History one to go today.

Not feeling smug, but relieved that I have got more than a quarter of the course out of the way already and I am still well ahead. I need to keep that up and to be honest that is part of why I will take May out of the shop - I will be needing the time in the books as well.....

I am never that foresighted, alas, which is why I end up on these efficiency drives.

Wow you are far more productive than me. I did go to an Adult back to work workshop that my daughter in law found and it was as expected... What was interesting is that applying for jobs through internet sites is miore productive by far then cold calling places in person which she said was more effective! She asked how our plant shop where I had been before hired folk. Didn't we like people to walk in and ask. "No, we used Craigslist exxclusively and didn't want to see them at all unless invited for an interview," I replied.
Took their Careers test for free and paid $10 to do a personality one which unsurprisingly told me that I considered if I was hired as an expert, then my employer should leave me alone to get on with it! Uh hu.. welll I always felt that way about teaching suddenly demanding teachiers in the UK to write up lesson plans in a book like a student and stick to them. Again if you are a pro, why the hell should you waste time on that?
So maybe, they said, I could look at retraining. Hmmm, always wanted to be an archeologist. Maybe I can be...
On 4th April I hit a Teacher's job fair with Accredition folk there to help people like me. :) And to hire teachers too. Not that I actually want to teach, I never did to be honest.
And on 16th I go back to the college to get the career questionaire and the personality ones "interpreted". Yes, I can tell them now I have a problem with authority... lol.
Writing is not moving at all, I am stalled till I hear about the current novel cos premises at the end of it completely affect this new one. :( But am getting to the point I want to carry on regardless... /le sighs.

I hope something good happens on the job front soon.
It's so frustrating, waiting to hear about books. I Maybe you could write some shorts or something?

I asked if there were any anthologies I could submit to but not heard back. :( Maybe I need to jostle an elbow again.
