So Michael Howard is standing down. And Cambridge has a new, Lib Dem MP. Two ups to a result which otherwise isn't quite enough. I wanted to see Blair's majority cut right back far enough to restore back bench (and yes, left wing) influence. I would have liked far more Lib Dems and fewer Tories. Where now? Nowhere I'm sanguine about, it seems.

Congratulations to Cambridge!

I'm lead to believe that a good number of previous Labour rebels remain in their seats - and apparently, rebellion tends to be a habit once tried.

Well, Bob Marshall-Andrews conceded defeat in Medway, made a speech savaging Blair, and then found he'd won after all...
