I'm not sure which is worse--being critiqued or being ignored. Whether faced with fire or with ice, it's never easy to write from a defensive posture. I suspect that the bluff that others have mentioned, the puffing-up of ego feathers, is the traditional attempt to counter that. But for myself I have worked at my best when surrounded by encouragement, not competition, and I hope that you feel supported in expressing exactly what you wish to--for yourself, not to feed the status quo. I am 100% behind you (along with everyone on the thread, I'm sure!) fwiw.
