Speaking of, as a younger feminist SFF author, I've seen this and try to speak up about it when I do. I think it's important to respect and recognize those who have come before us, dealt with struggles worse in ways, and as well, those who are dealing with it now, coming into the field at an older age. I think within feminism there is a definite difference in attitudes (at least, my 50yr-ish old radical feminist best-friend-soul-sister and I have had some interesting conversations) but that doesn't have to be a bad thing.
I see, frankly, too often an attitude that if you disagree with a vocal minority who have declared themselves the arbitrator of what is Right and Acceptable, which changes almost weekly. It's impossible for anyone to keep up with, but I see older women getting "called out" the most... for pretty much anything. It's not cool, and it upsets me a lot.
