I'm saying you shouldn't make privileged assumptions about 'what everbody knows'
This I totally understand. When I get to the point where I want to write a trans character I would certainly take advice from my trans friends.
Your 2nd statement is also sadly too true. The number of ugly ways in which trans people are portrayed is nauseating.
Thing is, I think that trans people and their friends need to begin and keep putting truer more positive images out there to counter-balance the crap.
