Newcon and after
We had a splendid time at Newcon over the weekend -- more power to the collective Ians, Whates and Watson for all their hard work. Good company, good beer, very good food and an interesting programme, on which ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
fastfwd was rightly and properly front and centre as one of the GoHs. Almost everyone asked me where desperance was, and how he was and expressed regrets at his absence. I did a repeat of my talk on sequels to The Three Musketeers, which seemed to go down well, and the marquis located and took us to a highly recommended and much CAMRA-garlanded local pub, The Malt Shovel (on Bridge St, opposite the Carlsberg Brewery. Fabulous and well-kept beer range, lots of unusual things on offer and tasty food at lunchtimes -- if you find yourself in Northampton, do go). I also took the opportunity to convert my award cheque into a beautiful Anne Sudworth print (for those who don't know her work, you can see it here: http://www.annesudworth.co.uk/ She's a wonderful artist and a lovely person as well).
And then back home to underwhelmed cats, who ignored us pointedly. Got up much too early this morning for a medical (regular, normal, girl-type) appointment, which they rang to cancel while I was in the shower). So I was virtuous and took myself off to the gym instead, which was both hard work and cheering.
And now, the sun is shining, the boy cats are basking in the garden and I am calm and content.
Skirt of the day: denim. Dull but practical.
