Anglo-Saxon Hoard!

This: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/sep/24/anglo-saxon-treasure-hoard-gold-staffordshire-metal-detector
is tremendously exciting. The context is fascinating (one of the most dynamic and interesting periods in Anglo-Saxon history). If there's a fund-raiser to keep this in the UK, I will be donating. I'm a very happy early mediaevalist this morning.

New story sale

My ghost romance 'Featherweight' will be appearing in Lace and Blade 3, ed. Deborah J Ross, from Norilana books on Valentine's Day 2010. Yay: I love this series and it's a huge honour to have been invited -- and to have been accepted. The anthologies focus on Dumas-style adventure and romance and volumes 1 and 2 were both great.
The full line-up is:

Kari Sperring, "Featherweight"
Sean McMullen, "Culverelle"
Sheila Finch, "Fortune's Stepchild"
Judith Tarr, "The Horned King"
Jay Lake & Shannon Page, "Embers"
Tanith Lee, "Question a Stone"
Dave Smeds, "A Swain of Kneaded Moonlight"
Rosemary Hawley Jarman, "Fire and Frost and Burning Rose"
K. D. Wentworth, "The Garden of Swords"
Diana L. Paxson, "Blue Velvet"
Samantha Henderson, "Outlander"
Carol Berg, "The Heart's Coda"

I still find it hard to believe that I am in the same book as Tanith Lee and [livejournal.com profile] dancinghorse and Rosemary Hawley Jarman, writers I look up to and admire.
