la_marquise: (Living With Ghosts)
My schedule is pleasantly light and brackets the weekend nicely also.
Re-Creating History
Fri 18:00
"For every official history there are competing unofficial variants,
for every orthodox explanation, there are competing unorthodox ones.
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries satirists and philosophers
wrote 'fake' memoirs and accounts of imagined places in order to
critique the events of their day. Modern alt.history likewise
complicates and alters the past. How do writers write history and what
do they do with it?"

Agents and editors and getting published
Mon 10:00
The mechanics of getting published with a mainsteam press. How do you
find an agent? Why do you need them? How do you get your book into
print?

The first one is My Fault, so I deserve it. The second? I can only assume I'm the =mandatory 'writer-who-sold-without-an-agent'.

The marquis is on the required RPG panel (I think there's a rule he has to be on at least one of these) and also on an item about swords and martial arts.
And we are both working in Green Room. So you'll know where to find us....

Curious...

I had a go at this:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/quiz/2009/mar/27/gcse-science-quiz

mainly out of curiosity, as it is many years since I did my O'levels. I'm not a scientist at all and I haven't studied science since I was 15. I found that when it came to these questions, mostly I was answering based on what seemed most likely to me, rather than based on knowing the answer. I was expecting to do badly.
I scored 7/8.
I'm not sure what that says about me. Radio 4 listener, maybe?
