I've now got the edited MS back from my editor and am about the job of making changes and corrections. On the plus side, they are nearly all things to do with layout and so forth -- no major rewriting, thank heavens (when I think how many rewrites this book has had...). On the down side, I am shamed by all the punctuation errors. Oh, dear. And then there's the speech marks. The files were originally typed up in LocoScript on an Amstrad, and had to be translated into Word for a PC... And somewhere in there something dire happened to the speech marks. Not all of them are curly. It doesn't sound bad, but it *is* frustrating as now they have to be regularised to one or the other. And being me, I want curly ones, which are the kind that I can't do with global find/replace. Bah. (Curly ones look nicer. Yes, I am fussed by such things.)
But actually, it's kind of fun. I mean, this is my very own book.
