So it's been a while since I posted here. I'm not sure why. I did Nanowrimo in November and hit the 50k, and am now trying to wrangle the book into shape. Then there was Christmas, which was quiet and pleasant. And January. Which was as it was. No drama, no crisis, just life. And my life is fairly ordinary.

We are now once again a three-cat household: Miss Telzey's little brother Random came to join us in early December and has settled down very well. He's a lovely, friendly, confident little boy and he's getting on well with both Telzey and Horus. Both of them let him snuggle up to sleep, and play long games with him. Here he is: CIMG3955

And that's me. How's everyone else?
Skirt of the day: denim.

*huggles* I'm glad you're doing well!

I'm slowly adjusting to the new year. Lots of foo, including brief kitty foo when Ichi got sick. But we got him some meds and he got better. Next up for me is wrangling book 3 into shape, too. :)

I'm glad he's getting better. It's so worrying when they're ill.

Random is a very cute kitty .

I have personally verified his cuteness (and had my socks washed by him).

He finds it needful to wash All the Things.

So glad to see you back. I keep reminding myself that--all things considered--I'm having a very good time, and that it is important not to dwell on the parts where I'm not having a superbly excellent time.

I've also joined a (growing?) cadre of people who have committed to returning LJ to a forum where people interact with each other. So if you see me commenting on even relatively trivial things, that's why. It takes daily mindfulness to not just read-and-move-on, but it's being well rewarded in the sense of community.

That's an excellent idea: I like the depth of conversation LJ allows and I miss it.

I like LJ for the community feel. I've been less present lately because there's less traffic, but I'd be very happy to return more regularly.

Yes, same here with regard to LJ. I've been on it for a long time and it's good to catch up with people.

Random is sweet. I look forward to meeting him.

Please let me add my voice to this movement. Twitter seems determined to self-destruct and most of the people I want to be in contact with are on LJ. So, let's make it so!

I'm finding it does take conscious effort. The people I've started working on this with have a sort of informal agreement that even just a "Thanks, that was interesting!" is a way to get the circulation flowing again. I try to aim for commenting on at least half the posts I read, and I've started averaging around 6 comments per day on my postings, compared to 2-3 last year.

Think that's an excellent beginning. I've also started suggesting that Twitter friends look for me on LJ

He looks so darling! Three pets is the perfect number, I think.

My own feeling is that the number of pets should not exceed the number of people in the household. Speaking as someone in a household with three cats and two people. We sometimes feel outnumbered.

We got Horus originally because Ish had more energy than the two of us and Mooncat could handle. We got Random because Horus was missing Ish....

We have frequently had one dog and two cats. The dogs ranged themselves on our side, generally, so we didn't feel outnumbered!

Missed you!
My local felines--or do I mean felons?--are facing the reality that cold weather means they need to resolve their differences for snuggling's sake.

I'm very glad to see you back.
Random kitty is adorable. I'm sure Madame Neri would agree if she would wake up long enough to look at the photo. She is pushing 15 and has decided to 'sit' out the winter by sleeping in her bed beside(under) the radiator.

If you start posting more, I promise to start doing the same.

Miss Telzey is quite pleased with him, on the whole. Horus, at 11, is occasionally less delighted, but is old enough to know a we;l-aimed cuff works wonders.
